The Lost Land of the Volcano
There are those who go to weddings on sundays and those who relax at the seaside; there are also those who watch science documentaries on a bright peaceful Sunday.
Sunday 27th of February 2011, 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
You can actually hear the sun outside. It's very quiet, it's Sunday. Some cold fresh fruit juice besides you and you launch the "Lost Land of the Volcano". The volume is pushed to the maximum so as to appreciate the scenery and to digest the loads of info going to be poured inside your brain.
The Lost Land of the Volcano is a documentary produced by the BBC One. A team of scientists under the supervision of Dr George McGavin adventures deep in the thick forest of New Guinea in the quest of discovering new species of animals in hope to stop the deforestation presently going on wildly. Dr. George McGavin prepares a report on the spot to convince the authorities in New Guinea to stop the deforestation. The main protagonist in this excellent documentary are Dr. George McGavin, Steve Backshall and Gordon Buchanan.
The rate at which new species are discovered, stunned Dr. George McGavin in the early days of the expedition. Here in my blog I have the great pleasure to present to you some of the new species discovered by the team of scientist on site.
The interview of Dr. George McGavin and Steve Backshall can be read in "How It Works" magazine Issue #16 and #14 respectively.
